In our ‘age of information’, most of us spend at least some time each day working in unforgiving postures at a computer. In addition to continuing my current position, the time seemed right to expand my services to the wider community. With much of our work life transitioning to the home environment where we may be poorly equipped with the ergonomic tools we took for granted in the office, there will undoubtedly be many more people experiencing work related discomfort. Working with employees from administration, accounting and call centers to the emergency, radiology, laboratory and medevac departments, my physical therapy knowledge and experience has enabled me to identify and ameliorate postures, movements and activities in the workplace that may result in repetitive stress, pain and injury. For the past fifteen years I have been the primary provider of ergonomic services for a large multi-site hospital system in Orlando, FL. She helped me to use items I already had at home to work in a safe, comfortable position and to be able work in different positions throughout the day. My employment has ranged from the public school system, acute care hospitals, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation centers, and onsite in theme parks and the defense industry. Pam was extremely helpful in my transition from working in an office for 30+ years to working from home. With degrees in Recreation Therapy from Clemson University and Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac University, I have had the privilege of over 30 years’ experience providing rehabilitation services to diverse populations in a large variety of settings.
